Have you ever tried to obtain insurance for an event like this? Even if there was a company who would be willing to underwrite a policy that covered all breeds it would be absurdly expensive.

Tonight the local San Diego 6 news announced a ban on certain dog breeds attending the “Dog Days of Summer” event. I checked the Petco Park website, as well as other local web sites to find out exactly which breeds are actually “banned” or “segregated” from the Petco park. The ban is not announced anywhere in the advertising in the “Dog Days of Summer” event information. The Petco site just says, “an application must be obtained from your local Petco store and submitted.”

Petco was built as a park that represents our San Diego Padres. Is this prejudice a decision of the Park or the Padres? What is the point of naming the stadium “Petco” or even offering a “Dog Days Of Summer” event, when only certain breeds are invited. It is shameful that animal lovers, such as that would have such prejudice and negative stereo types against specific breeds. Cesar Millan sells his products exclusively through Petco. This goes against everything that Cesar Millan teaches and stands for. I doubt he would agree this decision.

I am a proud owner of an adopted Blue Pit. He is well mannered and socialized. He is a impressive, yet humble example of his breed…but sadly it is the stero-types, prejudice and bans such as this that continue to create fear. A pet is only an extension of the owner.

Petco and the Padres management should reconsider this ridiculous ban!

Are you aware the Padres are restricting which breeds are allowed at the game? Today's paper said no German Shepherds, and they won't even list what other breeds, just that there are 10 or 15 breeds banned.
